The Thomas' visit

Matt and Anna and their twin girls, Sophie and Kate, escaped the stresses and strains of London life (and a kitchen renovation) and paid us a visit last week. Matt holds down a high ranking political job at Westminster while Anna works in a high powered legal job in Croydon. Although they brought their English weather with them, there were still plenty of highlights. Sophie and Kate showed Josh how to crawl. Matt and Tim sent some rounds down range at the local gun club as well as smoking some of Havanas' finest at Hotel Tatra. Meanwhile, Anna and Veronika had their hair done for only £2.00 at the hairdresser across the road.

I think CZ is a great place, but don't take my word for it. Listen to what our guests had to say.

The Ireland's visit

We had the pleasure of hosting David and Gayle Ireland a few weeks ago. They stopped over for 24 hours on their way to Poland and Russia. Although residing in Australia, David is originally from England, and he told us some fascinating stories of when he was export manager for Ladybird Clothing way back in the early seventies.

Once a year he would meet with government officials in Prague and Brno and present the company's range of clothing. If his sales pitch was successful, selected items would go on sale in special Tuzex shops around the country. These shops only sold western goods and local Czechs could only make purchases using hard currency or special coupons (called Bony). No koruny allowed. See the link below for more details.

Here they are in nearby Stramberk.

Ressurected blog

Well, it's certainly been a busy last twelve months here in the Czech Republic. So busy in fact that we haven't had time to blog. But here is a photo of Veronika with our beautiful boy Josh.

September 2007

Wow! Our first month living in the Czech Republic. What a month!

The trip over went very smoothly and our little KA gave the German Porches and BMWs a run for their money on the autobahn.

Since we arrived on the 6th September we have been busy getting our flat set up. It's nice to have a bit more space than at St Albans Road. The area around Koprivnice is very pretty and we have being doing some exploring.

We have also been doing lot's of administrative things with the government. The good news is that Tim now has a residency permit and has started a part-time job teaching English. Pray that he will get more hours and be a good witness to the students.

Veronika is finding it a challenge to adapt to life without full-time work. Tim's doing his best to keep her away from day time television. We are both looking forward to the baby arriving in December.

The local church has been very welcoming and supportive and Veronika has done a great job translating for Tim. Pray that we would be patient and have opportunities to serve the congregation.
